I filed my US citizenship application form N-400s in October 2007 at USCIS Vermont Service Center, and has not received a receipt notice. I may lose my SSI benefits within three months, the SSI makes monthly payments to people with low income and limited resources who are 65 or older, or blind or disabled. 

Is there a process whereby such applicants like me can request USCIS to expedite my case, even though they do not have a receipt notice number?

Answer: In recent months, Form N400s for US citizenship application have been receipted in record numbers at all four USCIS Service Centers. You indicate that your Form N400 was filed in October 2007, so it is possible your N400 is outside current N400 receipt processing dates. 

Please contact the USCIS Service Center where you mailed your N400. You should provide specific information that will assist in a search for your application. If you are able to provide the exact date of delivery to the Service Center this will greatly assist in its search.
