I Plan to Travel to My Home Country in this Winter, Do I Have any Risk?

Help Desk:

I am a F-1 student in a University. I plan to travel to my home country in this winter, but I am not sure if I can obtain visa to return to U.S. to continue my study, do I have any risk?

Answer:

After 9/11, some international students had problems obtaining visas to return to U.S. to continue their study after visiting their home country. U.S. Department of State have realized this difficulty, and addressed that visas should be reissued in the normal travel in the middle of their studies, unless there was a significant change of circumstances following the previous visa issuance.

If you have not changed your study major or field after your F-1 visa  issuance over the past few years, your should have no risk for visa issuance as an existing student.
